SAVED

Romans 1:16 am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.

Fireflies

It's funny how much your kids can open up your mind to new things. Luke came home from a friend's house singing this new song, and was begging me to look it up on You Tube for him.

I had never heard of Owl City or their song "Fireflies." (I'm positive that I'm completely out of it when it comes to the music scene. It's quite possible that everyone in the world has heard this song except for me).

Anyway, "Fireflies" is all we have been listening to the last few days and if you haven't heard it, you've got to take a quick listen and look. I am completely mesmerized by it. The song itself is such a great reminder of the innocence of childhood and shows a deep longing for that magical time, but check out the video... if you are a child of the 70's, you will see some of your favorite things that you probably had forgotten about.

What Did Your Husband Get You For Christmas?

Most all of us have our stories.

One year, before we were married, Tom bought me an Industrial Sized Package of Breath Mints. Because I like breathmints, he said.

That was the last year he got me a present that poorly chosen. I make a point to remind him of the breath mint debacle quite often.

If you have ever received a gift like this, you have got to take a couple minutes to watch this video.

It's clean, it's true, it's hysterical.

(listen for the positive subliminal messages being played in the dog house- HA!)

Somebody Watching a Little Too Much HSM?

Extraneous Commentary:

Yes, my dog has a Christmas sweater on.

Do you like the new polka dot rug from Pottery Barn?

And, yes, we have a basketball goal in our front room. Do you expect anything less from a basketball coach? Come on now.

Our front room is "under construction" - thus the unhung frames and drapeless windows.... hoping to get it finished up next Tuesday. plllllleeeeeeeeeeassssssee! I feel so undone!

Thanks for your great response on my "living out loud" description of my 2 youngest kiddos. I'm proud to say it's now a LABEL!

He can bust a move. This is only the tip of his iceberg. He can do some pretty impressive head spins and pop and locks (or something like that - help me Nicole)

Gone

On a day that the stock martket is plummeting, I thought a listen to this song by Switchfoot would be appopriate. Check it out. It has a great message. They could add a whole verse about Wall Street.

This Woman is Amazing

She is 97.
She is reciting a cheer she learned as a child.
And with much gusto and volume I must admit.

Besides not hearing my dad's question at the end of the video, can you believe the with-it-ness of Granny I? Please tell me this is genetic.

Yo!

Tipped off by Chrissy, (because anyone who knows Luke very well knows that our little boy thinks he's the next big thing in breakdancing), I downloaded the kids' heads in this funky dance. I know you've probably seen the dancing elves... this is the same thing, but with some COOL. Then, I found the rap name generator on myrapname.com (yes, this is a real site), and it created our breakdancers' names. Here we have Lukey Chill, Kami H Jammy Swoop, and E Cakes, a.k.a. Tiny Mix. Nikki W.: I need the low down on these names... are they legit?

Other rappers in our family:
Jammy Tommy T
Sista Dirty Annie H
Slick Judy Sugar
Jimmy J Cool
Phat Kiki Funk
Tasty Baby Hallie Face
Lady Lauren Kool
Maggie S Mystique a.k.a. Easy Kiss
Immortal Scotty Thug
Special CH a.k.a Sista Carolyn Cakes
Ok, I'll stop now.

Vote 2008

Ok, folks... I know bringing up politics is dangerous territory. Everybody has an Opinion (yes, with a capital O). Let me make it clear... I am not ready to walk into the polling booth. In fact, I had barely heard of this man until the Iowa caucuses. But I must say that I Admire what Huckabee says here about evolution and creationism.

Sweet and Gross

I know, I know, that title doesn't make much sense. But just think Sweet Tart, and you might understand. This 4 minute video is gross, yet sweet to me. Yes, it does involve cow poop, but it is so much more than that. It is a slice of time that Ellie and Papa spent together out on the farm "checking the whales." When Ellie was 5, she really thought that Dad had a large farm of blue whales. And that he went out to check on them every morning, feeding them fish and other things. In her little big imagination, she thought that he would pet them and play with them. So, one day he took her out to check the whales, and she found out that there were really no whales at all, but oil wells, and lots of cows, horses, rabbits, fences, hay, gates and other wonderful sights and smells you could imagine out on the farm. Checking the wells became a fun thing for Ellie and Papa to do together and this is just a funny (warning: gross) moment from one of their trips. (sorry Luke) For me, it isn't the poopy moment caught on tape, it's the conversation between the two, Ellie's raspy voice, Papa's interest in all that's around them, the beautiful green of the farm, and just remembering our girl at an age that has passed us by already.
