The Power of a Hug

This is just an eye opening and true moment that happened in our lives yesterday.

While trying to keep this person anonymous, I wanted to share how the little things we do for people can make an enormous difference in their lives.

Yesterday, Ellie saw a person outside our window. Being the Princess of Hearts that she is, she sensed that person needed a hug.

Today, the message below was posted on this person's Facebook. I, being somewhat oblivious to the depth of this person's pain, was blown away when I saw this person's Facebook status today...

Yesterday I felt pretty hopeless, alone and beaten up. I decided to take the dog for a walk. As I walked down the street, I was greeted by a smile and a wave from a neighbor's front window. I smiled and waved back. This smile came from a sweet little girl. She had no knowledge of the things I am going through. It was cold and raining outside. This little girl did not care. Without even thinking she ran out of her house. Not grabbing a coat to keep warm. Not grabbing an umbrella to shelter herself from the rain. She did not even put shoes or socks on. She just jumped up and ran outside to me. I asked her what she was doing outside like that. She said "I just want to give you a hug," and so she did and turned around and ran back inside. This little girl touched my heart and let me know that God is still with me, around me and giving me the things I need. I thank God for the children of this world, and for him being in my life.I am truly bless by God's grace and by this sweet angel Ellie. Just waited to share. Have a great day friends and count your blessings. God does love you.

Oh, sweet, sweet Ellie! What a compassionate young lady. I pray--as I know you do--that she never loses this to cynicism!

Wow. What a proud moment for you as well as a parent. Having a compassionate heart is one of the top things on my "wishlist" for my own son -- what a gift to the rest of the world Ellie is!

What a sweet gesture from Elle!!! And you know what they say, you never know when a smile or a hug can totally turn a persons day around!!!

Can you send Ellie to me? I could use a hug on a daily basis after work!!!!

Awww, she's a sweetie-pie!
We can all learn a lesson from her and dispense our hugs a little more frequently and with just as much joy...think I'll try that this week.
